== Career == David Heinemeier Hansson began his career as a software developer at 37signals, a web application company that would later be renamed Basecamp. It was during his time at 37signals that Heinemeier Hansson first created Ruby on Rails. Rails quickly gained popularity among developers for its simplicity and efficiency in building web applications. Since then, Heinemeier Hansson has been heavily involved in the Ruby and Elixir communities, advocating for the use of these languages in web development. He has written several books on Ruby on Rails, including "Agile Web Development with Rails," which has become a widely-used resource for developers. Aside from his work with Ruby on Rails, Heinemeier Hansson has also made contributions to Elixir, a dynamic, functional programming language built on the Erlang virtual machine. His contributions include creating the Phoenix web framework, which has gained popularity for its performance and scalability.
